The weekend music instruction program has commenced at Colors of Cambodia! Led by respected Detroit jazz musician Gerard Evans. Gerard teaches Western music theory, flute, and recorder to approximately 30 students at the Colors of Cambodia Art School and Gallery.
Gerard was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 10, 1963. He attended Cass Technical High School and Berklee College of Music. His father was a trombonist for the Navy and sang with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra . He studied classical clarinet with William P. Mobley. He studied saxophone with Billy Pierce , Andy McGee and Jerry Bergonzi .He was a resident musician every Friday at Bakers Keyboard Lounge(oldest jazz club in the world) He is currently performing around Southeast Asia.

Evans, a seasoned performer with roots in Detroit’s jazz scene and studies at Berklee College of Music, brings decades of musical experience and mentorship to the classroom.
The program is part of Colors of Cambodia’s ongoing mission to provide meaningful arts education opportunities that encourage creativity, confidence, and cultural connection through the arts.
